Who owns that coloured fog?

When you do call it theft, in the art world? Or plagiarism? Who owns an idea? What if you take the same idea and do something different with it? Intriguing questions; no? A couple of years ago I got completely lost inside a cabin filled with fog, outside the SMAK-museum in Ghent (Belgium). An installation by Belgian artist Ann Veronica Janssens. (The cabin was put on the roof of Wiels, Brussels, last year, as well). Then I got lost inside a cabin filled with fog by Antony Gormley, at London’s Hayward Gallery. And now, if only I could afford that airplane ticket, I would be able to get lost inside that new, apparently quite impressive installation at Beijing’s Ullens Centre For Contemporary Art, by Danish-Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson and Chinese architect Ma Yansong: Feelings are facts. Once again: fog and colours make you lose all sense of direction. Apparently these guys have done something to the floors too. You can read all about it on the Designboom site, here.
