Alain Platel wins award in Toronto for ‘Out of Context – for Pina’

The American Dance Festival Award for Lifetime Achievement was awarded to Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker just recently, in Durham (North Carolina), Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui won two Olivier Awards in London in March for Babel, and now Alain Platel‘s Out of context – For Pina has won a Dora Mavor Moore Award (for outstanding production) in Toronto (Canada). Who said he needed proof of the fact that Belgium has some gifted choreographers? The Dora Mavor Moore Awards annually honour the creators of performances (theatre, dance, opera) that have been shown in Toronto. Out of context, by Platel and Les Ballets C de la B has already received quite a number of international awards. It premiered in January 2010 at Kaaitheater, Brussels.
