Summer’s here! Let’s go and play in the sand!

Summer’s here. Festivals and summer exhibitions everywhere. Your beloved Utopia Parkway will try to spend not too much hours in his hammock and vows to keep on blogging, from Belgium and abroad (Avignon!). By the way, is it due to the fact that temperatures are rising that artists tend to take on strange endeavours, these days? Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker’s company will dance to the rising of the sun in Avignon, for instance, and Brussels-based artists Kosi Hidama and Gosie Vervloessem are digging a big hole (and making a big mountain), as we speak, in Fribourg (Switzerland) for the Belluard Bollwerk Festival. Their Digging Project was one of the four projects selected for the 2011 contest of the festival, focusing on hope. The public is invited to help Kosi and Gosie dig that hole. They’ll keep on digging and looking for hope until tomorrow. You’ll find a short video with both artists explaining their project here.
