Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui nominated twice for British Olivier Awards

Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui‘s (and Damien Jalet’s ) hit Babel (review here) just received two nominations for the 35th edition of the Laurence Olivier Awards, rewarding the most exciting shows shown on London’s stages. Babel was nominated as ‘best new dance production’, and British sculptor Antony Gormley received a nomination for his remarkable set and visual design in the category ‘outstanding achievement in dance’. The winners will be announced on March 13. Next month the Belgian/Moroccan choreographer will start working on a new production, Tezuka, which will premiere in London, early September. In 2009 the Royal Ballet of Flanders was nominated twice as well for the Olivier Awards. Their Impressing the czar won the award for ‘best new dance production’. All info here.
