Rogier Van der Weyden keeps on sliding on the internet

The exquisite Rogier Van der Weyden-exhibition at the new M Museum in Leuven has closed its doors. More than 151.000 people have visited it. Whereas all the paintings make their way home to several museums, worldwide, one part of the exhibition is being moved over to the internet: Sliding time, that wonderful video installation by Belgian video artist Walter Verdin. For those of you who couldn’t make it to Leuven, do check out www.slidingtime.be, to hear the bell toll and see the ten sliding panels of Van der Weyden’s The descent from the cross (a painting from Madrid’s Prado). All the info isn’t on the site yet, unfortunately, but if you have trouble sleeping, you know where to go for a meditation exercise of a different kind. And for all you contemporary art lovers: you can still go to M for the Jan Vercruysse-retrospective (until January 17). Info: here.
